College is a season full of questions, decisions, and new directions. It’s a time when faith often moves from something inherited to something personally owned. We want students to leave college not just with knowledge about Jesus, but with a way of life shaped by him.

Uof R For?
Portrait U of R exists to help students of the University of Redlands come to see Jesus, know Jesus and follow him in all of life together. Any current student at the UofR is welcome to join our groups and events.
Connect with Your Local Church Community
We want students to develop a rooted love for and commitment to the local church.
We desire them to:
• Cultivate both a love and a felt need for the local church.
• Learn how to identify the marks of a healthy church should they transition from Portrait.
• Build connections with the church rooted in friendship and fun.
Our Framework for
Following Jesus
We want students to gain clarity on what discipleship is and have confidence to share that with others.
Our desire is that they will be able to:
• Identify and articulate what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
• Adopt Portrait’s framework for following Jesus as a guide for their own spiritual lives.
• Learn how to share their faith and this framework with others, multiplying disciples.
Joining God’s
Kingdom Mission
We desire students to embody and live out a biblical vision of God’s Kingdom.
Here’s what we believe about the Kingdom:
• The Kingdom is wherever and whenever God gets what he wants.
• The Kingdom is God’s reign (rule or sovereignty), not primarily a place or people. It is his dynamic rule breaking into history through Jesus, bringing salvation, healing, and authority over evil. - George Ladd
• “The Kingdom of God is God’s sovereign activity in the world, resulting in people being in right relationship with himself.” - Vance Pitman
We desire students to:
• Understand that they carry Kingdom authority wherever they live, work, and play.
• Recognize that the Kingdom includes every socioeconomic group, ethnicity, and nation. It does not skip over any lines.
What to Expect
Our gatherings and groups are designed to help students grow in their love for the church, deepen their relationship with Jesus, and understand their role in God’s Kingdom.
Throughout the semester we offer a variety of events and opportunities including:
• Bible study groups
• Worship nights
• Connection around shared activities
• Community service
• Spiritual formation and discipleship small groups
