Discipleship isn’t a Program, it’s Life. Discipleship at Portrait isn’t about moving up a ladder or completing a checklist. It’s about learning the rhythms and practices that shape a life with Jesus. These rhythms help us grow in love for God, deepen our relationships with others, and live faithfully in the places God has called us. Step by step, we practice the way of Jesus together.

A Simple Framework for Followers
Mission
God’s mission is to expand His Kingdom in the hearts and everyday lives of people around the world, beginning in our own communities.
As disciples of Jesus, we participate by loving our neighbors, listening to their stories, practicing hospitality, sharing the Gospel, and pursuing justice in our cities. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we each have a vital role to play.
Everyday
Discipleship doesn’t only happen on Sundays. It happens in ordinary life.
The way we work, rest, spend time with family, serve neighbors, and respond to challenges all become spaces where Jesus forms us. Everyday discipleship means learning to recognize God’s presence in the normal rhythms of life.
Disciplines
Spiritual disciplines are an invitation to grow closer to Jesus, grounded in His love and free from the pressure to perform. Through practices like Scripture, prayer, generosity, silence, and solitude, we face our limitations, deepen our dependence on God, and become more like Him.
These practices help us rest in the love we already receive through Christ.
Connections
Relationships are central to God’s story, and Jesus shows us how to love by first pursuing us with forgiveness, acceptance, and an invitation into lasting relationship with Him.
Our connection with Jesus shapes how we connect with others, calling us to take initiative, love intentionally, and approach differences with humility and grace. Healthy relationships are essential to following Jesus and living out the Gospel.
